School Ethos & Values

Message from Miss Ray, Headteacher

Choosing a school for your child is one of the most important decisions you’ll make, and I’m really proud to share what makes our schools such a special place to learn and grow.

We are a small, four-class primary school. At the heart of everything we do is a simple belief: every child should feel known, valued and supported to succeed. Because of our size, we truly get to know each child as an individual – their strengths, their interests and how best they learn. This means that no child is overlooked, and every child has the opportunity to thrive.

Our mixed- age classes are real strength the school. They create a family-style learning environment where children learn from one another every day. Younger pupils are inspired and supported by older role models, while older children develop confidence, responsibility and leadership skills. It’s wonderful to see the way they encourage each other and grow together forward – not just academically, but socially and emotionally too.

We are also a deeply inclusive school. We recognise every child’s unique, and we are committed to ensuring that all children feel a sense of belonging and achieve their full potential. Our staff work close together to adapt learning and provide where is needed, so that every child can feel successful and proud of what they accomplish.

One of the things that really sets our school apart is our strong sense of community. We have fantastic support from our families, and we see parents as true partners in their child’s education. There is a warm, welcoming atmosphere here – many people describe it as “family feel” – and it’s something we value enormously. Children settle quickly, build strong friendships and feel safe and happy in their environment.

Because we are smaller, there are also more opportunities for children to take on responsibility, to be heard and to shine. Whether it’s representing the school, helping others or contributing ideas, every child plays an important role in our school community.

Ultimately, our aim is not to just help children achieve academically, but to help them grow into confident, kind and capable individuals who are ready for the next stage of their journey in life.

School Aims

We have high expectations, within our caring and inclusive primary school, to ensure that all children, staff, parents and governors embrace our learning behaviours of:

  • confidence
  • perseverance
  • reflectiveness
  • responsibility
  • working together
  • creativity
  • curiosity

so as to equip children with the skills, knowledge and attitudes to succeed in life.

At Caversham Park Primary School, we develop the whole child to ensure that they become:

  • Successful learners who enjoy learning, make progress and achieve;
  • Confident members of the community who work together;
  • Happy individuals who value themselves and always try their best and
  • Responsible citizens who make a positive contribution to society.
